“He’s my hero!  What he goes through, it’s taught me that I don’t really have any complaints.”  Patrick John Hughes

When was your last pity party?  What did you do to break out of it?

God has given gifts to each of you from his great variety of spiritual gifts. Manage them well so that God’s generosity can flow through you.  (1 Peter 4:10; NLT)

Last Friday evening, I made the off-hand comment about Sharon being an “overcomer” to something she said. I remember thinking right after I said that that it had been a long time since I had seen a good overcomer story. Our long-time readers will remember that there for a while it seemed like I was passing along a new overcomer story almost monthly. If you missed them, just click on the category “overcomer” on the left and you’ll immediately have access to the 15 or so that I’ve blogged about.

Well, wouldn’t you know that later that very evening, a good friend and colleague sent me another one. Not a new one, but one that was certainly new to me. Turns out, with a little research, that the video above was posted on YouTube a little over three years ago, but unfortunately I was not one of the more than 2.3 million viewers of the story.  Any way, to me it is an amazing story of the potential God puts in each of us but which most of us just don’t ever see — maybe because we’re so busy being envious of the gifts that we see in others.

Anyway, if you’re like me and you haven’t seen the story of Patrick Henry Hughes and his Dad, you will love this.  I’m not sure who is the greatest overcomer in the story, Patrick or his Dad.  What do you think?

BTW, this story has captured the hearts of so many that Patrick has become quite famous.  His list of speaking engagements and awards is longer at his young age that most accumulate in a lifetime.  He is even written up in Wikipedia.  I’ve included the link to his Internet site as our Link of the Day.  Amazing!

Prayer Power
Father, we all are blessed in so many ways.  We thank You for the stories like this one that stop us in our tracks and make us see just how blessed we really are.  You have made every one of us an overcomer in one way or another.  Thank You.

Link of the Day
Patrick Henry Hughes

Blessings on you as you purpose to develop an attitude of gratitude for the many blessings you have received.
