Law of Seed and Harvest

“Since the only thing we have control over is the seed we sow, we must ensure that the quality and nature of the seed we put out is in keeping with the harvest we desire.” Seni Hazzan
How would you assess the quality of the seeds you are sowing?
Don’t be misled. Remember that you can’t ignore God and get away with it. You will always reap what you sow! (Gal. 6:7; NLT)
As I said when I started this series (8/6), in my reading over the past several years, I’ve been exposed to many lists of so-called irrefutable laws. Of all those lists, I have found the list of nine by Hazzan (from his book, Rebuilding from Ground Zero) to be the most useful and consistent with my Christian world view. I thought I would share one or two of those fundamental laws through the next several DGs. Don’t forget to leave comments as you feel led.
The law of seed and harvest states that for every cause there is an effect and for every effect there is a cause. Aka the law of sowing and reaping or the law of cause and effect, about this law Hazzan writes, “This law affirms that there is no such thing as chance or luck. Everything happens according to law. For every harvest you desire, you must sow a seed.” I’m sure you’ve heard the often quoted quip about the definition of insanity (or stupidity) as doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result.
Like the law of creativity, this one can make us pretty uncomfortable as well. You mean I brought these circumstances upon myself? Well, according to this law, in a word, yes! Even science is more and more beginning to acknowledge the reality of this law. We see a growing number medical experts admitting that most, if not all, of the chronic diseases which are so devastating, originate from lifestyle choices rather than from genetics or any other root cause.
Sometimes it seems we’re spending more time looking for who to blame, or for who should be protecting us, than we do in looking for how we can change the seeds we’re sowing in order to change the harvest we’re getting.
What do you think?
Prayer Power
Lord Jesus, to think that we are responsible for much of our life circumstances is a very bitter pill to swallow. On the other hand, it certainly throws open the door to change as being something that is within our ability to control as well. We ask for Your continuing guidance as we sow seed on a daily basis.
