“Health nuts are going to feel stupid someday, lying in hospitals dying of nothing.”  Redd Foxx

How would you define a health nut?

Moses was 120 years old when he died, yet his eyesight was clear, and he was as strong as ever. (Deut. 34:7; NLT)

I don’t know about you, but I’d rather be dying of nothing than dying of something.  Nevertheless, as usual, Red Foxx’s humor brings a good laugh.  And that’s a good thing.  Here’s why:

Scientists at the University of California have discovered that laughter relaxes tense muscles, reduces the production of stress-causing hormones, lowers blood pressure, and helps increase oxygen absorption in the blood. Cardiologists at the University of Maryland Medical Center found that laughing can actually reduce the risk of heart attack by curbing unwanted stress, which can destroy the protective lining of blood vessels. A good giggle also burns calories since it’s possible to move 400 muscles of the body when laughing. Some researchers estimate that laughing 100 times offers an aerobic workout equivalent to 10 minutes on a rowing machine or 15 minutes on an exercise bike.  Hmmmm…when’s the last time you laughed 100 times in the space of an hour or so?

I’m disappointed to say that we did not include a chapter on laughter in our UNCOMMON Wellness Coaching ebook.  Looks like we missed a fun opportunity.  Oh well, I can see that Volume II is already in the making.  Anyway, allow me to remind you that the wellness course is starting next Wednesday at noon.  I encourage you to check out the Link of the Day to get all the details.  Even though we don’t have a chapter on laughter, it’s going to be fun anyway.  And it’s definitely going to change lives.  That’s always fun!

Choose to make your weekend a magnificent one.  Laugh a lot and have lots of fun.  See ya on Monday!
