“Organic farming is rooted in ancient knowledge passed down through generations. Long before science could tell us why certain farming methods would produce greater crop yields, organic farmers were learning the hard way what worked and what didn’t – and sharing their knowledge with others.”  David Suzuki

What one thing could I do for my health beginning in the new year?

They sow their fields, plant their vineyards, and harvest their bumper crops.  (Psa. 107:37; NLT)

Most of this is taken from Dr. Mercola’s site, however there is a great deal of further information available proving the efficacy of organically grown food.

The debate over whether organic food is healthier than conventionally grown food may be over, according to results from a $25-million study into organic food–the largest of its kind to date.

The four-year, European-Union-funded study found that:
Organic fruit and vegetables contain up to 40 percent more antioxidants
Organic produce had higher levels of beneficial minerals like iron and zinc
Milk from organic herds contained up to 90 percent more antioxidants

The researchers obtained their results after growing fruit and vegetables, and raising cattle, on adjacent organic and non-organic sites. They say that eating organic foods can even help to increase the nutrient intake of people who don’t eat the recommended five servings of fruits and vegetables a day.

The UK’s Food Standards Agency, which has formerly said that there is no difference between organic and conventional foods, is reviewing the research findings.

Many “health” experts continue to state that there is little difference between organic and conventionally raised produce, but if they review this evidence, they will likely have to change their tune.

Food grown in healthier soil, with natural fertilizers and no chemicals, simply has to be more nutritious. It is common knowledge — though knowledge that is greatly suppressed in the United States.  A 2003 study in the Journal of Agricultural Food Chemistry, for example, found that organic foods are better for fighting cancer.

And organic food simply tastes better. People often comment how good the food tastes at our house. I believe the main reason for that is that I use the highest quality food I can find, with most of everything being organically grown. There is such a difference in taste. I tell my clients that I could blindfold them and give them a conventionally grown carrot and then give them an organically grown carrot and they could easily distinguish between the two because the organically grown one clearly has more flavor and taste.

Why don’t you take the taste test and see for yourself?
