A Baby Shower!
“Slow Cookers have long ago proven to be the efficient friend of those cooks who are gone all day, but want to offer substantial home-cooked food to their households.” Dawn J. Ranck and Phyllis Pellman Good
How often do you use your crockpot?
As soon as the sound of your greeting reached my ears, the baby in my womb leaped for joy. (Luke 1:44; NIV)
I love to attend baby showers! It’s a joyous time for ladies to get together and celebrate a new birth that’s about to occur. Our church family honors each new mother with a baby shower shortly before the “wee-one” appears on the scene. On Saturday, I attended a fun shower for a sweet young lady that we’ve known for several years now whose baby girl will make her appearance later this month. The young Mom hopes for the baby to arrive before Thanksgiving so that she (the Mom) can eat a big Thanksgiving dinner.
Ladies chat at showers. All females know that. We chat with our friends and we chat with ladies we’ve never met before. Saturday was no exception. I overheard a woman who I didn’t know talking about an easy crockpot recipe. I introduced myself and asked if she would reiterate what she had bee talking about. She was a lovely, warm, and friendly woman who chatted easily about her life. Before leaving for home, my new friend jotted down her recipe. It sounded like something our readers would enjoy and it’s very easy. I made some slight alterations to the recipe and used organically grown ingredients when actually trying the recipe yesterday. I think you’ll enjoy it.
I’ve been using a crockpot for many years now. I choose NOT to tell you how many. With a little help from my Dad and a new electrical cord, one of our crockpots is nearly 40 years old. I also have one that’s only a few years old. I use them both. Crockpots are so versatile and so helpful when planning meals. The key word for using a crockpot is planning. Thinking ahead of what you’d like to make is required for using a crockpot. The effort is well worth it. Beans, soups and stews are some of more common uses for crockpots. This month I plan to feature recipes for use in the crockpot.
